WHAT: “The Cost of Hate Is High,” a talk to promote tolerance and awareness, will be presented by Judy Shepard, whose son Matthew, a Wyoming college student, was brutally beaten to death in 1998 because he was gay. The speaker has made appearances around the country to educate people about what they can do to make schools and communities safer for all, regardless of race, sex, religion, or sexual orientation. The talk, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the CSUCI English: Writing and Literature Program, Student Programming Board, and the Multicultural and Women’s & Gender Center.
