CSUCI’s Renovated Dining Commons Recognized in National Publication

Camarillo, Calif., Oct. 3, 2008—The Dining Commons at California State University Channel Islands was recently recognized as an Outstanding Design award winner by the American School & University magazine. The announcement was made in the magazine’s August issue.

This issue of the magazine is an annual design awards issue that includes all school projects from Pre-K through Post Secondary institutions. CSU Channel Islands earned the design award in the cafeterias/food-service areas category. American School & University magazine focuses on issues pertinent to school administrators responsible for the design, construction and facilities management of campuses.

The 11,300-square foot Dining Commons renovation project at CSU Channel Islands was completed in August 2007. The renovated dining area features a blending of the California Mission-style architecture with a contemporary twist of bold and vibrant colors that appeal to students.
