Sue Saunders |
Sue Saunders is the Director of Academic Advising and Learning Support Services and has been with the Channel Islands campus since March 2000. Before arriving at CI, Sue had worked in the educational field for more than 20 years. She was the founding member of the Advising Center and with a lot of hard work, turned a concept into a reality for students who need assistance. Her office is located on the first floor of the Bell Tower. Her passion is student-centered advising, and she — along with her staff — is committed to providing quality advising services to all undergraduate students.

Barbara Duffin |
Barbara Duffin joined the advising center staff in 2002. Before coming to CI, Barbara worked in higher education for over 8 years. In her previous position, she advised specifically Liberal Studies students, which makes her a valuable asset to all of our Liberal Studies students.

Wendy Olson |
Wendy Olson is the Advising Center's Administrative Analyst/Specialist and has been at Channel Islands since June 2002. Wendy developed many of the administrative functions, being one of the first few employees hired in the Advising Center. Wendy performs a variety of administrative and technical duties to support the advising center in its daily operations. Before coming to CI she had more than seven years of experience working in the Ventura County Community College District. She loves working with staff and students, providing support and help wherever necessary. During her off hours, she enjoys watching her children's soccer games with her husband and spending time with family and friends.

Sara Alcala Admin. Assistant |
Sara Alcala has been the Administrative Assistant at the front counter in our advising center since September 2005. Sara has 6 years experience working for various types of schools, from elementary to university level. She enjoys helping students and looks forward to assisting students with any questions they may have about CI's advising center. She attended CSUN at Channel Islands as an undergraduate, which she feels, will help her interact more with current students. Sara received her Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidence and PPS Credential in May 2010. Sara is located at the main advising counter in the Bell Tower.

Monica Rivas |
Monica first interned with our department in August 2006 from California Lutheran University as part of her Master's in Counseling and Guidance program. She joined the Advising Center staff in January 2007. Prior to her employment at CI, Monica worked for four years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties and interned at CLU's Career Center. Monica loves assisting students in reaching their educational and career goals, so feel free to contact her with any advising questions you may have! On her free time, she loves to enjoy the sun and be outdoors!

Chiara Lamb Academic Advisor |
Chiara Lamb began her employment at CI in December 2007, after working for eight years at Pepperdine University. At Pepperdine, Chiara served as an academic advisor for approximately 1000 students, evaluated transcripts and advised on all degree requirements from start date until completion of degree. Chiara looks forward to assisting students with any advising questions.

Susan Arias Academic Advisor |
Susan Arias joined the advising center staff September 2008 after working for four years at California Lutheran University's Financial Aid Office. As part of her Master program studies, she interned at CSUN's EOP and Partnership Programs where her desire to work in Academic Advising was strengthened by the experience. Susan is very excited about her role as an Academic Advisor and looks forward to assisting students reach their educational aspirations.
